Missional Focus: {Day 4} A21 Campaign

Today's topic is not a pretty one. Today's organisation doesn't deal with what would be considered a "nice" issue in the world.

Today's organisation, The A21 Campaign, is an organisation that is aimed at rescuing, and preventing the buying and selling of humans - known as human trafficking.

I first heard about A21 at a Hillsong conference in 2008. I had chosen to do the Community Action stream of electives and in what I think was our first session we heard from Christine Caine, the founder of A21. Christine and her husband had only just set up the organisation so we were really hearing about it as it took it's baby steps.

There was a small group from our church at that session, and I know that not one of us walked away without a heavy heart.

12 months later I was at Hillsong again, and was able to hear from Christine once again about A21 and the progress that they had made over the course of a year.

The A21 Campaign is committed to abolishing injustice in the 21st Century, focusing their efforts on human trafficking and modern day slavery.

A21 is definitely fighting an issue that comes straight from satan. It's hard to think of anything that comes close to being as heinous as human trafficking. The deliberate intent to not just use the women and children that are trafficked, but to make them fearful of law enforcement, to reduce them to nothing more than objects is tragic and horrifying in the ways that this is accomplished.

But A21 is making a difference. And we can make a difference too by joining with them. If you would like more information about The A21 Campaign or to find out how you can support this vital ministry visit their website.
