Missional Focus: {Day 5} Justice and Care

Over the last two weeks a group of women from our church has been over in India on a short missions trip. One of the organisations they have visited while there is Justice and Care which is "an international team of human rights professionals supporting victims of trafficking and other forms of injustice and supporting governments in their efforts to prevent these crimes, protect the victims and prosecute those who exploit them." Human trafficking is big business. And some people might be surprised to find out that it is something that occurs in almost every country of the world - including Australia, the United States and the UK. This is not simply a third world issue.

Justice and Care run a number of programs that aim to target trafficking at it's roots - before the women and children are sold. They work with other organisations to track down missing people and runaways, as well as taking part in targeting major entry points to cities before these missing people can be taken. Justice and Care also walks alongside victims from rescue to prosecution of their perpetrators and until they have rebuilt a stable life.

Justice and Care is staffed by people with a number of different expertise including investigators, social workers, counsellors, lawyers and administrators.
